Every Three-Year-Old Deserves a Pet Alligator

Okay, here's the story. A woman in Brazil is cleaning up her house after a flood. She sees her little boy disappear behind the sofa. She checks to see what he's doing--and discovers him blissfully patting the head a five-foot-long alligator.

The firefighters called in to remove the beast told the woman she was lucky that the alligator hadn't been in the mood for a snack.

More here. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that kid's going to have an interesting life.

If every three year old had pet alligators maybe we'd give them the attention they deserve.

If Ju L. is reading, I know that in Spanish-speaking countries the word for firefighters is "bomberos." What's the word used in Portuguese-speaking countries?

Dear Kitty:
Pet alligators sound cute, but when you get down to it, the podiatrist I go to doesn't need the competition. Really big reptiles with large teeth and open-toed sandal wearing don't mix.

Besides, if I took a five foot gator for a walk in the flood control channel, he/she would soon be walking ME!

It's pretty much like spanish but with an "i" is "bombeiros".

Thanks Ju L. for the Portuguese tip! I still get a chuckle from when there was a wildfire out by Tecate. Tecate California's fire protection district had/has a mutual aid agreement with Tecate Baja California. So some Mexican "bomberos" crossed the border (all of half a mile or so) to help stomp out a brushfire before it became a binational problem. One of the local TV stations said the assist from the south came from the Mexican Air Force!
