Never Trust a Weatherperson

15.3 NINETEEN inches of snow. (In Central Park. Who knows how much there is in my Brooklyn backyard, shown above.) That's TWICE the amount that was predicted. I WILL GET YOU WEATHERPEOPLE. You are now my enemies.

your backyard looks really pretty. Magical, even. And since when do people really use their backyards, anyway?
And if that doesn't help, ypu can at least be consoled by the fact that I have 2 snow days. Hey, it made me happy.

There are black squirrels living back there. It would be really cool to see them prancing through the snow. But that's as much fun as I expect from this snow day.

Wow, that's more than three times what we have down in NJ owo' Likewise, the weather people in our area said "Only 2-3 inches of light snow~" rather than the current 6 in hehe... Let's all join up and attack weather stations! XD

I've never liked weather people ever since they said it would be a sunny day on my 5th birthday and instead there was a minor snow storm. =(

Writing as someone who has www.noaa.gov (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration -- which includes the weather bureau and what for lack of a better term I call "the fish police") bookmarked, I must admit they manage to get it wrong even here in San Diego. You'd think "Night and morning low clouds, with highs in the 80's" would be pretty foolproof, but they once forecast "a chance of drizzle."

I had to ride through foot-deep puddles in the middle of a rainstorm to get to a meeting downtown after work. A motorist asked me what I though I was doing -- I told him I was a test rider for the Postal Service. I wish.

And Kirsten, please share if you get any pictures of snow-backed squirrelouettes.

haven't you been enemies with/suspicious of weatherpeople for a while now? but i'm jealous of the snow. it's gotten cold enough to snow here (so much for 100% california sunshine, thank god, haha) but it doesn't. what really gets me though is that there are a couple spots in my yard that would be excellent for sledding. (never mind that we don't have any sleds, we could use boogie boards :). i'm sure they would work just as well.)

Dear Anonymous Snow-wanter:

Scratch using boogie boards as sleds. Your hands, gloves and mitts or not, will get banged up, or worse, as you hold the side of the board while cascading downhill.

Try using old truck inner tubes instead. They're good in surf and snow.

I am jealous of the snow. Since I am still in school I would than have a Snow Day. Here in Illinois we haven't got much snow yet.

When I was even smaller and much more gullible, my cousin convinced me the weather man was a dangerous something-or-other and out to get us. I still have a feeling that that's not as far-fetched as I thought when I figured out she'd snowed me.
