This Week's ARC Giveaway!

A Darkness Dwellers ARC goes to the first person to correctly answer the following question . . .

If you could ask one of the Irregulars for a hand-made present this holiday season, who would you ask--and what would you ask her to make for you?

Please leave your answer in the comments section of this post. (As always, a correct answer is one that amuses me.)

This contest will end tonight (Monday, December 17th) at 11:59PM. The book will be sent priority mail and should arrive by Christmas! Good luck!

PS: I hope you all gave your parents lots of hugs this weekend. I have a feeling they needed them. And don't forget: If you want the world to be a better place, you're never too young to make a difference.

I would like Luz to design a bike/pedestrian bridge across San Diego Bay. Alternately, I'd like Annanka to create a time management system for me -- I keep forgetting people's birthdays, etc.

I'd ask Betty to make me a giant squid costume with a giant squid carcass caught by Ananka, so I can float mysteriously about holiday beaches and baffle silent onlookers, before climbing out of the carcass like it had eaten me earlier.

I'd like to have Luz and Betty and Deedee to work together to make something. Scratch that, i would have all the Irregulars work together on an awesome trench coat. It would have nice smelling Fille Fillabe (i don't have my book with me, I'm not a very good speller.) that wouldn't wear off and all sorts of weapons and school escaping supplies.

(I'm not entering for the book, since I've won a previous one and I am waiting for it to arrive. Just doing it for fun.)

The ultimate gift from the Irregulars for me would be from Betty, Iris, Kiki, Ananka, and Luz.
It would be a..........Disguise morph suit, that allows me to blend into the shadows, take on The appearance of anything, while smelli trustworthy.

Betty would design it, Kiki and Ananka would come up with what the suit can do, Luz would build it, and Iris would put Fille Fiable on it.

I would ask Luz to work with a local bird trainer and build non-electronic versions of everyday devices. She could use a homing pigeon to make a GPS system. She could also develop a cellphone that gets around surveillance devices by using a tiny hummingbird to fly the messages to their recipients.

I'd definitely ask Betty for a cool chest of disguises, like ones for my siblings and friends, so I could pretend to be them. Hehe.

Or, you know, any one of them could give me a coupon for a day of hanging out with the Irregulars. That would be fun!

I would probably ask Betty to give me some fashion advice and advice on disguising myself. Then, I would ask for some of that Fille Fillabe; it sounds really cool. I would also love some martial arts lessons from Kiki, or some books from Ananka.

I would ask Betty for a disguise kit--none but the best, amirite? Hopefully she would comply. Maybe Kiki could send some mysterious black clothes. Or DeeDee a lab coat. Or some welding goggles from Luz. Perfect for fitting in in my world! XD often, the best lies are the most outrageous. ;) If that was impossible, I might settle for asking Luz to build a walk-through-walls device. My teacher needs a good scare.

I would ask for...the help of all the irregulars to undertake the biggest heist of all time...to rob every stolen art masterpiece and return it to their rightful family. There's a history lesson here, back in WW2 nazi troops burst into homes ( not only jewish) and just took art, be it from a wall, or under the floorboards. This was a great catastrophe and a large grievance to many art collectors and art lovers. It is estimated that thousands of paintings were filed in the losses and missing. This means al lot to me...I love art and whenever I stumble on a lost painting story....it hits me hard.

I'd ask Oona for a copy (in English of course) of the guidebook or rulebook she gives to her employees.
As her employees paint toes and file nails they listen for secrets but how do they know what important or what isn't?
Sure, Ms. Zebra stripe gold necklace might say her husband works with a man who knows that the alfalfa company called HrsesRK is going to be the next big thing but how do you know if she is bragging or telling the truth?
How do you know which gossip could equal cold hard cash and what gossip is just gossip.
Does it have to do with the tone of voice?
Do really rich people not were much jewelry at all?
Does blue nail polish mean a compulsive liar and green mean gullible?

Yes, knowing Oona's secrets could take me far in life.

Though it's not technically handmade...I'd love Ananka's library. For hours, I'd pour over her musty collection of books, never getting bored. From Mayan architecture, to giant squids, from rats to potatoes. Who knows what wonders would lay in this present? And what things it might cause? I could discover another underground city, invent a new tool, breed giant goldfish, open a retirement hope for giant squids, or stay out of trouble over winter break, too :)

I would want KiKi to create an invisibility Vespa that ran on fi fillable (so we could cut down on pollution). It would be so neat so I would zip around without dealing with the annoyance of traffic and cops. It would also have a little screen that let me read books, look at maps, and video chat with my fellow comrades. This would be such a great gift, if only KiKi could actually get it to me! Well, if you dream it you can believe it! :)

I'd like a bunch of disguises and a guidebook on how to pull them off, made by Betty. This could be so useful- I could spy on people disguised as an old man or something, and nobody would suspect anything! Like others said, some Fille Fiable would be good too, because you would be virtually impossible to arrest or catch. (Just so you know, I have a book coming in the mail, so I'm not really entering).

I would ask Betty for a brush that could change my hair color using microscopic GI animation technology.
My mom says I can't dye my hair blue, but that doesn't mean I can't use an illusion to make it LOOK blue!

I would ask Luz for some kind of puzzle/acessory/lock-picking device. Possibly with a secret compartment.

Could you maybe do some giveaways where it's just whoever gets the answer first gets the ARC?

I would ask Luz to make me a time machine and then I would ask Ananka to give me a book that would tell me cool places to visit (in the machine). I'm sure that it would be a challenge for Luz but I think she could do it. :)

In response to Anonymous that would not be fair because I live on the West Coast.

why of course i couldn't just ask for one thing! i would get betty to be my personal stylist and go to person on all things to do with my appearance - it is very important to me for people to either see as what i really am or what i WANT them to see me as (depending on the occasion). in return payment, well ....i can't reveal all of my secrets but i have many things to offer ;)

I really want a list of everything that Kiki is allergic to, because I have a bunch of allergies too, and I like talking about weird food things with people.

I would ask Oona for #1 a manual on how to lock pick *colour cooridinated obviously* #2. A free manicure done in her salon. #3 A personal biography about her life and all her secrets

Though she isn't technically an Irregular, I would ask Verushka for her cherry blitz recipe... Ii sounds good and I love cooking:-)

A good discussion with Kiki, over nice cup of coffee would be the best. Though secretly I'd hope to persuade her to let me into the Irregulars, that wouldn't be my main goal.
I think just from talking to her, I'd learn a lot. I think the world is very messed up, and Kiki and me working together for good... who knows what would happen?

Of course I would wish for all of the Irregulars to hand deliver an ARC of Darkness Dwellers to my doorstep but... in all seriousness I would like them to make an awesome black suit and disguise kit for me so that I could adventure with them in the shadow city. And I would really like to have a huge library in my house so maybe Ananka can help with that?
