Yarn Bombing the Alamo

The Alamo is a huge, rotating cube in the middle of Manhattan's Astor Place. And it was just "yarn bombed" by artist Olek. According to hyperallergic, (the blog where I found the photo above by Alex Sarkesian), it has already been removed! Why?

Wow, that's awesome! It's really sad that fun 'artwork' like this can't be appreciated. ):

I didn't even know what yarn knitting was.
Thanks for putting up stuff like this.

Niiiiice...

I bet they took it down right away because if you leave knitted or crocheted stuff in the wet, it gets a lot stronger or harder to undo. Even more so when it's a really fuzzy yarn with lots of sticky-outy fibers to tangle up with their neighbors, sort of like how your hair gets tangled if you get it wet and then let it dry.

This was great! :) I love the pictures you post.

BTW, Haven and Iain *sigh* were nominated as one of the most romantic couples in literature. Thought you might like to know. Voting is going on now to find the winner. Everyone and anyone gets three votes!

Thanks!
