Contest Ideas?

(Above: It may not fit the subject, but I love this poster.)

Okay, now's your chance to show the world (and by the world, I mean this blog's readers) how brilliant you are. I have two ARCs of All You Desire to give away, and I need a contest idea. So send me your suggestions!

Like The Eternal Ones, All You Desire is intended for readers 13+. But everyone is welcome to enter the contest. If you win, and you don't feel you're ready for a teen book, I will come up with another fabulous prize!

Which past couple would you liked to have reincarnated as. Say like Cleopatra and Marc Antony.

Maybe a "show your love" contest where people send pictures, texts, etc. to show their love for your books, like pictures where the person is dressed up as one of the characters, "reasons why the eternal ones is the best", drawings and stuff like that.
It would be really awesome!
And, even though I haven't read "the eternal ones" yet (it hasn't been released on my country just yet), I'm going to buy it online and enter the contest whatever it is!

Write a short story, but it has to include one (or more) of the wacky topics of a recent blog post.

What about a picture contest? Like what picture best represents all you desire or reincarnation

Violet :) said...

Draw pictures for the Kiki Strike wiki! I noticed there was only pics for the irregulars... people could draw pictures, get an ARC of All You Desire, and then their pictures would be posted on the Kiki Strike wiki!

Contest idea- think of the best contest idea. (-:

Violet, I like your idea, too ;-)

Write a short story up to 1000 words from a narrators point of view introducing at least one charactor. This is very hard because it takes a lot of story line to build a strong personality with just what they say, do, and their appearance.

I think this will be a fun challenging contest

But the last contest was writing a short story too. Also, it would be unfair to those who haven't read "the Eternal Ones" yet. I live in Brazil and it hasn't come out. I'm wating for it to be sold but I still want the second book! I don't know the characters so I wouldn't be able to participate

I like the idea of aa artistic contest, but it shouldn't just be limited just to drawing. Photography, or computer design too.

You could have a book cover design contest, like we need to create a new cover for The Eternal Ones or Kiki Strike.

Another idea would be to create a model something from one of your books, like a reverse pied piper or a map of Snope City.

I'll try to think of more ideas...

I like montana irregulars' and isabella's idea. What about a photo contest?

Write a story about your life when you where reincarnated and take a pic and send it to you with the stoory of something that relates to the story!

Make up a past life reading for oneself or for Kirsten Miller. Which ever one works. Must be no more than a thousand words, original, and entertaining.

If that doesn't work, the other Anonymous has a good idea, too. :)

write an "application" to join the irrgulars. like if it was a job opprotunity, and som you have to come up with a character....?

Violet :) said...

Contest idea- figure out who the irregulars were in past lives!

The Sad Writer said...

Write an application to join the irregulars or make up a past life, or write a story or something.

And pictures.

It should be something that's writing or drawing, or both, since some people can't draw at all, like me. Haha.

Sorry for taking the other people's ideas, they were good.

Write something that:
1)Involves reincarnation
2)Involves underground cities
or
3)explains why Blogger is stopping Ms. Miller's posts!
Thus, all readers can happily participate!

RC: I meant a new character from your imagination I have not read eternal ones yet either. The story would not have to be of relation to the book at all sorry i should have been more clear on that.

Holy Lucy, Batman! said...

I do like the cover design contest Idea also

I can't draw to save my life.
Sorry a lot of comments.

An opening to a book that trys to explain something that cannot be explained (like UFOs)

I think the contest, since the first book was set in New York *which is a historic setting in the novel* should be a collage of New York.

I think a really fun contest would be to have an 'artsy' contest where you can showcase what kind of art you are good at. Let that be storytelling, poetry, photography, 2d art, 3d art, film, musical, etc... That way you can make it so that everyone has an equal chance to enter. But maybe because this is a book blog, you could have everyone include a short written summary (artist statement) of their work. And for the contest theme... How about reincarnation. That will give you a wide variety of submissions. I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but I was too excited to read all the comments. And sorry this is so long... :)

Bigfoot contest. Best "FAKE" pic or video of Bigfoot. If its real you automatically win.

Anonymous said...

How about a contest judged by submitting your own piece of historical fiction? Or some type of writing...

Violet :) said...

Write a guidebook to Shadow City or Snope City or the Ouroboros Society or something... yes, I've been obsessively thinking of contest ideas all afternoon...

Shelia.E said...

Create a new character than you may or may not feature (in a small way) In the next Kiki Strike book.

Anonymous said...

I've a couple of contest ideas.

Devise a "Mad Science Project."

Write a 30 word or less description of a time when you used something in a sensible, but unexpected, way.

Examples: "I used an auto jack to move a wall of Chinchilla cages."

"I used a set of Mardi Gras beads to repair an auto muffler."

"I used duct tape to patch a hole in a duct."

How about a Kiki Strike POster Contest?

Nina said...

I think that you should do a photograhpy contest it is unique and fun

Nina said...

Or possibly 1 sentence stories, those are interesting and fun

Violet :) said...

Make a movie trailer for Kiki Strike or The Eternal Ones.

Alice the Elf said...

What about expressing in some way (pictures, short story, ect.) what you think would happen if one of the character in KIki Stike were to meet/see/pass on the street on of the characters in the eternal ones and if you havent read the books base it on the cover for the eternal ones or what you think they might be like.

Anonymous said...

I have a good idea draw a pic of iris thats a good one i think but since there is not an offical pic of her it will be hard nut thats whats fun about it

Foster the People fans Brazil said...

I love the idea of the movie trailer! That would be so cool :-)

Anonymous said...

hi, i was wondering what is "the columbia conspiracy" on kikistrike.com

also, i like the move trailer idea

i love your books, bye

I think we should try to write, or draw, something based off of that poster. because i have to agree the the poster is awesome and it can definitely be interpreted in a lot of different ways.

Pshychidelic Snail said...

I think something like photography with a premise related to The Eternal Ones, because not everyone can draw well*coughmecough*

Undercover Samurai said...

What about a contest where we have to explain a conspiracy that has been featured on Bank St. Irregular? Either through an essay, story, or some form of art.

I think the movie trailer ideas are cool, but I'venever done any video editing before, and have absolutely no clue how to. You could make videos an option for an art contest that some other people were talking about.

Oh, by the way, I was the second anonymous to comment. The one who had the idea for a book cover or a model. Considering that there were multiple anonymous's, I decided to use an actual screen name.

Holy Lucy, Batman! said...

Psychedelic snail: LOL don't worry I can't draw either!!!!

Anonymous said...

all these sound like good ideas to me. What if you gave us a delimma, like one the irrgulars might be stuck in, and ask us to solve it. It would be hard to judge though because there would probabley be multiple good answers. You could have requirements that we have to meet in the answer.

MushroomCloud said...

well, i won't be able to weigh in properly because
1) i can't draw at all
2) i can only write poetry
3) i have a fear of chickens

the trailer idea would involve more than 1 person, so that might notwork. :)

Anonymous said...

when are we going to find out what the contest is?

moni's kitchen said...

i hink you should do a kiki strike or eternal ones fanficion. i dont know about other people, but someimes, i like to change charecters around or create sceanes i thought should have been in the book. you can get good ideas from this to. sorry if i did a bad job explaining.

Anonymous said...

but... but but but... what happened to telling us when kiki 3 is coming out?? whenever we pass a barnes&noble i have a large urge to go see if it's out yet

Toodles*** said...

Make a past life for yourself in less than 2 sentences, and take a photo of yourself to go along with it. (Must not be a photo that Kirsten has already predicted a past life for, photo doesn't necessarily need to show your face)

And by the way, this is pretty much Anonymous at May 18, 2011 4:46 PM's idea, so I guess you get the credit anonymous :)

Anonymous said...

I like the movie trailer idea, or a photography contest for the eternal ones.

Anonymous said...

I think that u should do a poetry contest! where people write poems

Anonymous said...

write a short story about kiki's or ananka's or haven's childhood. Or another character. something that fits with the books, but wasn't mentioned in the books.

Anonymous said...

What exactly does ARC stand for?? I'm not really sure, sorry!

Anonymous said...

Dear Anonymous:

I did like the "write a short story about a character's childhood" idea. I think Verushka's an unexplored character.
