Another Installment of "I Want One of Those!"

I'm beginning to believe that I was horribly deprived as a child. Why didn't my parents hire Steve Kuhl to build a pirate ship bedroom for ME? I would have had such fun forcing my brother and sister to walk the plank.

Oh well. I guess I lost my chance to punish my siblings in true pirate style. But if I ever build my own house, it's definitely going to have one one of Mr. Kuhl's secret slides. (See the slide and more pirate ship photos here.)

Sorry Kirsten, no sympathy from me over this. My siblings and I used planks and our imagination for pirate games. Difficulty -- trying to get the dog to wear an eyepatch. On the other hand, my pet rat was quite content to sit in the cockpit of a model airplane (unpowered, no gliding, indoor play only).

I feel your pain Kirsten- even though I used bunk beds for pirate ships, it would be much cooler this way. Sigh... But closets work well for prisons and jump ropes are excellent for restraining people!

That would have been so much better than pretending that my bedroom was the pirate ship and using old paper towel tubes for swords. I'm demanding an explanation from my mother as to why she never felt the need to get me one of those.

That is waaay cool. If I had had a room like that, I probably would have made my brother walk the plank too. *sigh*

Dear Anonymous Anonymous:

I'm a brother. I probably deserved to "walk the plank" several dozen more times than I did.

This must be the best bedroom I've ever seen. I wish I had this when I was little! Oh well... I agree, my brother would have walked the plank a LOT. Haha.

One of the wonderful things about being a grown-up is that you can do whatever the heck you like to your bedroom. You may not be able to make your siblings walk the plank anymore, but you CAN do that to your kids/pets/lovers. Well, some lovers.

i always imagined designing secret spaces between my walls, given the entrance was a playhouse, and the tunnels would be cloth, but i thought it would've been cool.
