Russia's Mysterious Wooden Sphere

Deep in the woods of western Russia sits an enormous wooden ball. No one knows how it got there or what function it was meant to serve. Curious locals have been visiting the site for decades, hoping to solve the mystery of the giant sphere (or make a little money out of it). However, according to the website English Russia, all they've been able to uncover are "a few holes of strange shape and 'radioactive' sign." Uh oh.

Thoughts?

It is OBVIOUSLY a new form of bomb filled with atomic radioactive goo, that is programmed to blow up in precisely a gazillion years.

Poor future Russians!

If it's radioactive, maybe it's where the Russians are building a plutonium bomb and then they'll drop it on us and we'll scream and flee in terror because we don't have bomb shelters like the ones under France that are practically bomb-proof and... and...

*twitch*

Ookamishinzui: Costa Rica. I think this one's not ancient like those. It was obviously built in the 20th century. But why?

Littlechar: Your new name is going to take some getting used to! I'm going to check out your site ASAP.

Kurosignal: Only a guy would find that cute. ;)

I hope it doesn't blow up. That would totally be a disaster, if it's radioactive, like Chernobyl or Hiroshima or Nagasaki or something.

I think it's art. Art trying to convey the fear we have about the unknown in a world of terrorism, with the constant threat of nuclear war.
That, or a really great, recycled vantage point. :)

Me too Im am sooooo excited for this season, im personally a big kate and Jack fan, but I have to say Desmond is pretty kick butt too haha.

Hmmm.... If it's really radioactive, only a professional scientist could have made it. There must be some sort of record about it somewhere!

Time for a little investigative work.
