Air Zoo

I have time for just one quick post! I saw this right before I left, and I've been dying to write about it.

Artist Joshua Allen Harris creates animal sculptures out of empty plastic bags, which he then ties to New York's subway grates. Most of the time, they look like ordinary trash. But whenever the trains roll by beneath the pavement, gusts of wind bring the sculptures to life! I've only seen them in person once, but it was a truly magical experience. Check out the two videos below.

That is so beynd cool! I would like die to see one! One more reason I'm going to live in NYC when I grow up! But I don't like when they deflate, they look like they are dying.
What ARE you doing in London? Are you going to 'research' for the
3rd book? Or finish that story you started a long time ago?

*Mysterie*

Wow! I agree with everyone else - they are a little sad when they deflate. I want to go to NYC with my friend soooooo bad! We could go to all of the historical places in your books, Kirsten, and every time we walk past a subway grate I know we would stop to see if any of this guy's creations are there (she reads this blog, too)
When are you going to put up the Iris portrait on the "meet the irregulars" part?
Wow. That's a long comment.
(Ok, I tried to send this, and idk if it worked, so sorry if there's two)

Ananka: I know that you will probably get this after April first, but I just found a cool April Fool's Day-isim. April Fool's day started in France, when they changed over to the Gregorian (I think that's what it's called) Calender, so April first was no longer New Year's. The usual thing to do was to give gifts on New Year's, and so if anyone gave you a gift you would know that they didn't know it was no longer New Year's. For unseen reasons, the French thought this was hilarious and decided to play a joke on these people by lying about having a gift for them. They also stuck fish to the backs of these "fools". Today in France you can buy fake fish stickers to put on people's backs instead. So yeah, that's what Wikipedia has to say about today.
