Oh yeah! ANDNDNNNDND-
The Great Serpent-
The image of a coiled serpent with its tail in its mouth. representing eternity and immortality, appears in the myths of many different cultures around the world. This myth comes from the West Africans.

Nanu-Buluku, the one god and creator, neither man nor female, existed before everything and anyone.
Aido-Hwedo, the great serpent, was Nanu-Buluku's servant, and he carried the creator everywhere in his mouth, turning, curving, twisting, winding, and bending this way and that. The earth's rivers began to twist in the same ways. When Nanu-Buluku had created the earth, it was so heavy from the weight of all the mountains, trees, rocks, and creatures that it was in danger of falling! The creator asked Aido-Hwedo to coil himself beneath it and hold it up. But the earth so hot, and Aido-Hwedo could not stand heat. The creator made oceans to keep the serpent cool, and that is where it has lived since the beginning of time, holding his tail in his mouth. He sometimes has to move around to make himself comfy. When he does that, the earth shifts and creates earthquakes. Red monkeys live in the sea. Their job is to make iron bars for the serpent to eat. One day, they will run out of iron, and Aido-Hwedo will have nothing to eat. His hunger will grow and he will chew his own tail. He will then thrash about so much that the world will fall over and slip into the sea!

I wonder if there are life forms like that on other planets . . .

That's a lot less eww than it could be. My first thought was that it was going to be from a large layer of dinosaur poo under the ice...... Microbes seem pretty benign in comparison.

I agree with Gamma. My first thought when I saw the picture was slaughtered whales :| But fortunately it turned out to be caused by something far less violent.

MushroomCloud-the penguins just happened to die and dry out. They do actually die of natural causes, you know. Well that's all I wanted to say. Bye.

so I went on a Latin trip to the Met. today to look at funeral urns- i know total percy jackson moment there. and there were lots of statues and it was really awkward cause they werent wearing clothes. not child appropriate I tell u! so then we ate in central park near the obelisk where we took pics of it 2 bring to our earth sci. teacher 2 show weathering and also sidewalk pushed up by roots (thsts what were studying) then we saw a deatheater and took pictures of him. then a kid climbed up a tree and jumped off the top. then we also watched an ocalpella group. Darn. I was expecting something more wacky than that explanation....it is a "bleeding" iceberg, after all! But whatever! It's still cooler and more interesting than the stuff i learn in school! Everything on this blog is! Thanks again, Kirsten!

Mushroom Cloud: You're looking for Kiki on ff.net too? I'm trying to get them to shift the genres so that it's findable, and then I'm gonna upload something of mine, maybe. ;)
