Who Wants a Little Yogurt on Her Permanent Record?

(Above: Don't throw it, Fiorello!)

Happy Fourth of July! Yes, I know I'm a little late. I was busy exploring the sewers of North Carolina in search of new life forms. (Sorry for leaving that last, horribly disgusting post at the top of the page for so long!)

So now that we've learned about water boogers, the next topic must be . . . food! In June, a number of Wisconsin teens were frog-marched out of their school in handcuffs. What was the nature of their offense? Drugs? Violence? No. They were arrested because they had participated in a food fight.

Of course this was no ordinary food fight. Apparently, the prank had been planned long in advance, and the students had smuggled massive quantities of yogurt and other supplies into Portage High School. Then, at the appointed time, the entire school went completely mad.

"So on the count of three, we stood up, whipped it, (and) everyone started screaming, running," said sophomore Dylan Mitchell.

Within seconds, yogurt and taco salad were flying across the cafeteria. "(I) threw my milk. I picked it up, spilt it all over me, threw it," Mitchell said.

Hmmm. Very mature, Mitchell. But did he (and his friends) deserve a criminal record AND a $172 fine? I wonder.

For those of you who are hankering for a food fight, I strongly recommend this Mentalfloss list of The World's 10 Messiest Food Festivals. (Perhaps I'll see you at the West Virginia Roadkill Cook-Off?)

Sigh. Nobody has ever once started a food fight at my school. Although ... There are some of those kids - you know, the ones who wouldn't shock anyone by being the ones to start a food fight? I could bribe them ...

injustice ........at schools food fights usally merits a detention , not getting arrested.....i think though the food fight was kind of stupid they shouldnt have gotten arrested

I think that's a bit over the top, but I totally think that it was also kind of stupid and immature. (Not that I've never wanted to try it.)

That would be really fun though!

No one has food fights at my school either Peacey. WE eat outside, not in a cafeteria. The only thing close to a food fight is some of the popular boys throwing pizza crusts at poor Sheena. They are so mean to her! But no worrys. They will get their karma. Mua ha ha ha ha.
No, actually, I don't know what to do to stop this, anyone?

Wow. Arrested? We had a ton of food fights at my school last year, it was really fun! But all that happened was the teachers threatened to give us silent lunch... then again, I don't think they were planned in advance! =)

That's a hard question. There was the extra cleaning up, etc., but on the other hand it was a FOOD FIGHT, not a murder. I think arresting them is over the top (the fine, however, perfectly reasonable).
It was bad, but it must have been a LOT of fun. :)

When I graduated from 6th grade one of the people in my class tried to convince all the 6th graders to have a food fight on the last day of school. Sadly, we didn't do it.
A $172 fine! Some grownups have no sense of humor!

Oh, wow. I find this kind of hilarious. I guess if I was going to jail, though, I would be pretty mad.

Or maybe we just need to worry about what they were using the food fight to cover up! Some other, more heinous, crime perhaps?

Wait. It has only just occurred to me to ask what the deal with the statue is. What's the deal with the statue?

*The Cat in the Closet*
There goes my rotten egg idea. If these students got arrested for a food fight, then its likely I would be if caught smashing rotten eggs in public places. Although...if I wasn't caught...*cackles wickedly*

Aww man! I want to have a food fight SO badly!(The girls at my school are WAY to girly and would get grossed out) The closest thing i've had was when people threew dry and wet (with saliva) pretzels at each other at camp. And even that was fun! I think they should've gotten detention not a fine or aressted or anything. Hmmmm what would Kiki do? *smiles wickedly*

at my elementry school (a long time ago) we got in trouble for talking to loud. for talking to loudfor goodness sake and had to have silent lunch for a week or something and if anyone talked they missed recesses. my elementry school was a modern day nazi concentration camp...we couldn't go inside during recesses do go to the bathroom.

Amber Star Gem's post reminded me of something. i was at Girl's Camp and we were going cannoning, one of the girls in my canoe (there were three of us) freaked out when she got 3 drops of water splashed on her. she made us take her back to shore. i really wish i had tipped the canoe...it would have been hilarious! too bad i didn't think about doing that then. oh well...sigh

Wow Reel dancer I have been in the same boat (like in the phrase) We were camping out in my backyard when there was a spider the size of a marble (legs and all) was in their tent. They SCREAMED bloody murder and ran out of the tent. Man i was laughing so hard! I finally killed it with a shoe. (we also played a prank on them by throwing a soccer ball at their tent) man were they scared!
