Design the Perfect Gadget Contest

YOUR MISSION:

Design the perfect gadget for a girl spy or detective.

THE RULES:

It must be completely original.
It must be useful.
It must blend in with the contents of an average purse/backpack.
It must be something a girl could use without attracting any suspicion.

THE ENTRY:

Your entries may consist of a written description, blueprints, pictures, drawings, or any combination of the above. They will not be judged based on writing or drawing skills--but rather on the creativity displayed.

Everyone, including former winners, is welcome to enter.

All entries should be sent to kikistrike@gmail.com.

THE TIMING:

Entries are due by 11:59PM, EST, September 30.

THE REWARD:

You'll know soon enough.

PS:

The idea for this contest came from one of our readers. (Thanks, Macy!) It's in honor of the late, great Julia Child.

uuuuuugh! I'm soooo gonna lose if it has anything to do with drawing ability!
I am AWFUL!!!!!!!!!
BUT! I have an amazing idea! Can we enter more than one object?

Kirsten Miller said...

Eternal Espionage: Don't worry--drawing skills are not critical. Just make your description good! And you can enter as many times as you want.

does it have to be something that could really be made

Kirsten Miller said...

Anonymous: To a certain extent. It can't use magic or alien technology or anything like that.

gahhh I'm so bad at this kind of contest >.<
oh well. It'll be fun trying.

Hazel said...

I've asked my mother some questions about electricity and stuff. (What the heck is a watt anyway? Would something like this interrupt the circuit?) Is that allowed? Please!

sekrit7 said...

I'm on it!
When's it due?

Kay said...

YAY! Finally time to break in my teenager action-hero gagdget making skills!

Spiffy said...

Will there be special prize winners and finalists again?
Is there a written address we can send it to?

Kay said...

By the way, do we send seperate entries as different e-mails? Sorry I did not ask this in my original post, but I didn't think of it just then!

-by the way, this is Lena on a different account.

but how will we know if the gadget hasn't been invented yet?

Anonymous said...

Wait - that's less than a month, Kirsten. I don't know about everyone else, but I've got a ton of school work already. Can we have just a little bit more time in order to let our creative juices flow to their fullest extent? Please? I just don't think that will be enough time.

Kirsten Miller said...

Anonymous: Let's see how we feel when the time comes, ok? If we need an extension, we can talk about it then.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I just need to know this: is dragon's apple wart remover bad for a person in any way (other then that it makes you act drunk)? does it have alchohol or anything harmful?

Kaitlin(Kad) said...

I have a gadget idea...sort of.
I am not sure it will turn out well. and I might not submit it. but I will try my best. I cant wait to see what the prize is for the contest.

Anonymous said...

ananka, how about my question?
"but how will we know if the gadget hasn't been invented yet?"

Irregular Kiki said...

I'm still thinking about what to design.
Good luck to every one!

Random Irregular said...

Hoorah! Moer than ONE entry. Hmm, better start brainstorming now...

j_for said...

I have a bunch of ideas, should I squeeze them all into one device? Or keep them separate single purpose devices?

Anonymous said...

can more than one person work on the same gadget? like in a group?

Anonymous said...

can you make the gadget, or at least a model of it? If the answer is yes please answer with an address!

KikiCullen said...

This will be awsome!!! Im probaly going to do it with my friend. It will be interesting to see all the cool inventions people come up with.

sakura said...

let's forget about what I said before, because it doesn't matter anymore. But I have a question....

Can the gadget be the actual purse?

Kirsten Miller said...

Let's see if I can answer all the questions . . .

1. Entries are currently due on September 30.

2. Devil's Apple does not contain alcohol. But I'm not sure if it's all that good for the brain cells.

3. Yes, you can make the gadget and take pictures of it.

4. I will post an address where entries can be sent.

5. Squeeze as many or as few ideas into one gadget as you want. But remember! It has to be (somewhat) believable.

6. Don't worry too much about whether the gadget's already been invented. Just don't copy anything you've already seen.

7. Yes, the gadget can be the purse. (Cool idea.)

8. I think it's best if everyone works individually. Groups might make the contest more complicated.

GOOD LUCK!

Anonymous said...

ah. thank you. :D

Phoenix said...

Cool - now I just have to attempt drawing!

max said...

unfortunately, my scanner is broken...

Hazel said...

Devil's Apple is a narcotic, right?

carmela said...

Uh, Kirsten? I think I agree with Anonymous(6). I'll need some more time because I have a lot of school work already. Extension please?

Kirsten Miller said...

Everyone: What do you guys think would be a good extension? October 15? October 31?

carmela said...

I think October 15's long enough. Thanks!

liltomboyblue11;) said...

hmm..... glad you made the extension. This will be hard.
