“I love this class! Where else do you get the chance to hold maggots?”
(Above: Homework)
When I was in high school, the most a budding coroner could hope for was a frog or two to dissect. (Sorry amphibian lovers--it was all in the name of science.) But these days, there seems to be no shortage of dead things for students examine.
That's because forensic science classes have grown quite popular recently. Everyone wants to learn how to calculate a corpse's time of death based on the size of the maggots feeding on the body. (Sorry to be so gross, but isn't it wonderful?!?)
Students also learn how to analyze a body's stomach contents, make sense of blood splatters, and reconstruct car crashes.

Awesome! Sometimes I wish I wasn't homeschooled. Maybe they have something like this at my community center.
And have you ever heard of maggot therapy?
I want a class like that. I should suggest this for my principal.
I loved that issue of the Science Times! :D
Reminds me of the time my father witnessed an autopsy. He almost fainted. Twice.
ha! that is awesome!
Hazel, I am homeschooled to!
btw, Kristen, if I want to email somthing to you, how do I do that?
that sounds and looks a little wried but kewl!
Um.... I'm am sorry to say that I am privileged. I am in an advanced program (aka torture) & in 6th grade we disected a squid, cow eye, frog, fish, and a worm.
Kirsten & co.: My project is being delayed for a more pressing one: PROVING MY TEACHER WRONG. My teacher is awesome, and really popular being one of the few male teachers **rolls eyes** but mistakenly stated in class that (this is a summary it was actually an hour long debate) gossip, if ignored, will end. It will have no effect, supposedly, if you act like you don't care. I told my dad about it, and he agreed with me, but he said this: I'm not sure, I'd have to think about it more, but I think maybe that gossip effects girls more..... I'm in shock. I need any info or testimonials I can get. I had no idea that guys were so clueless about "catty" things like gossip. PLEASE HELP IRREGULARS!

I went on vacation here :)
My sister was studying about that... She had fun grossing us out XD
Forensic science! It's so interesting.
Wow! That's cool but disgusting. o_o; It's gotta be because of the show CSI, it makes dead things cool because the characters are so cool.
in 9th grade we are going to disect pig fetuses :P
In 7th grade I dissected a nightcrawler (huge worm, about as long as my arm), a fish, and a frog. The fish time was funny because all the other people in my group were these big buff football guys and they refused to touch it. So there was me, 4' 6" blonde girl who (back then) almost never talked, dissecting a fish while the "manly" wrestlers and football players were reeling back in horror and discust.
(Some) Boys are overrated.
Nellie: my dad gave me the tendancy to faint. I discovered this after an injection. But I've only seen him faint once, when my little brother accidentaly slipped with a woodcarving tool and sliced open his hand. Dad just sort of slid down the counter. I can't blame him, Aaron (the brother) was screaming bloody murder (he thought he was dying. Poor kid).
What makes this funny...to me...is that he worked on an ambulence for a year or so, and most of the injuries were way worse than Aaron's. Mostly barfight stuff--it was not the best part of town.
Wow, this is one long post. Sorry...
