The Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp

Late one night in 1988, a young South Carolina man named Christopher Davis was driving home from work when he had to fix a flat tire. He'd just finished when he heard a strange thumping noise coming from the swamp behind him. According to Davis . . .

“I looked back and saw something running across the field towards me. It was about 25 yards away and I saw red eyes glowing. I ran into the car and as I locked it, the thing grabbed the door handle. I could see him from the neck down – the three big fingers, long black nails and green rough skin. It was strong and angry. I looked in my mirror and saw a blur of green running. I could see his toes and then he jumped on the roof of my car. I thought I heard a grunt and then I could see his fingers through the front windshield, where they curled around on the roof. I sped up and swerved to shake the creature off.”

The beast that attacked Christopher Davis has come to be known as the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp. Witnesses have described a creature that's "seven feet tall, bipedal, and well built, with green scaly skin and glowing red eyes. It is said to have three toes on each foot and three fingers on each hand which end in long black claw-like nails."

Over the past twenty years, Lizard Man has frightened a number of solitary travelers and damaged dozens of cars. Unfortunately, other than eyewitness accounts, there's been little proof of its existence. The only real evidence was discovered when officers from the local sheriff's office located three-toed footprints near one of the sightings--footprints that biologists were unable to identify.

It's been three years since the last sighting of the Lizard Man. But recently, a South Carolina couple woke to find that something large and powerful had attacked their minivan in the dead of the night. Could the mysterious scrapes and puncture marks be the work of the Lizard Man? Check out this CNN video and decide for yourself.

That's really creepy... but not fake sounding either. I mean, who would wreck their own car? What were the footprints? What about people actually seeing it?

That is soooo cool. You can find other things like it in "Weird Ohio", a really cool book I found somehow linked with Kiki Strike blog... I don't think i'll be able to do the Iris picture.. WAAA.

That is really creepy, and I think that there's some proof. Like why would a bear do that to a car? Or a coyote. No one would do that to their car, right? But some of the accounts sound fake. Like the one featured on this website, it sounds like the guy just took what other people said and made a story. I'm still glad I'm not going to South Carolina.

Why do so many "monsters" have glowing red or glowing yellow eyes?

it sorta sounds like a character from an episode of Kim Possible, where the Cheer squad people go out to Camp Wanaweep. One of their camp friends(this kid Kim and Ron) used to know morphed into the thing described in this post. Hmm, interesting.

The red eyes part sounds like something I saw in the fireplace along time ago. Not the fire, it was put out an hour ago with a whole bucket of water dumped on it. Plus, the fireplace was entirely black ever since it was put out. *stares at fireplace in terror* ^^' But that lizard man seems to like cars! XD
