On a Lighter Note (Maybe)

All I will say is this: I was truly touched by this video. And I wonder how many works of genius are hidden away in storage facilities across the US.

Search Vivian Meyers
Look for the amateur photographer who died in 2008 before her photos became known

I'm impressed, both by the dedication needed to find, process, preserve, and archive this huge body of work and by the pictures themselves.

If you've ever spent time in a dark room with a weird orange light, a creaky timer, huge negatives, and the joys of shaking developer tanks, you've missed out on something. But only a little.

And those Rolleiflex cameras give big negatives, and I've got an abiding affection for the tonal range of classic black and white films, but the big factor in photographic success is the photographer. What a great eye for great shots.

I've got shutterbug envy.
