Happy Groundhog Day!

(Above: Don't be fooled by the dandelions. This is not a groundhog you'd want to mess with.)

I'm pleased to report that this year, New York's own groundhog, Staten Island Chuck, did not eat the mayor! AND he didn't see his shadow either, so spring is on the way. (Yeah right. This has been the most miserable winter in years.)

I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that this is post #997, which obviously means that post #1000 is coming up! What should I do? Any suggestions? (We're also approaching our FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Can you believe it?!?!?)

I don't know why people picked a ground hog to d side if spring soon or not why not a duck seeing its shadow or a rabbit or any other animal!

  5. I loved this winter! Snow!
Also, how about a contest or two?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh yeah, another art contest would be good, or another writing one.

Also, I think a groundhog because they hibernate and then come up out of holes. And eat mayors.

  7. I would say a contest of some sorts or the first chapter of kiki strike 3 or some new t-shirts!!!

-Al Fonzo is posting from her school's library with the stupid firewall!!

  8. A contest, a contest! And maybe something a little different for the 1000th post.

  9. I also think we should have a contest. But maybe for the 1000th post we show some of the most interesting things over the past four years...sort of like a...walk down memory lane sort of thing. Maybe a contest for Best Spy Dress Design, like people can send in designs for multifunctional spy clothes.

  10. happy groundhog day! you're right, this is a crappy winter. Ayways, there should be a writing contest to celebrate. Maybe the prize can be an advanced copy of one of the new books?

  13. Woo! You've been making us happy with this blog (and also giving us good conversation starters) for nearly four years!

    And...

    Contest!

Maybe who can do the most amazing/interesting/world changing thing in a given time period? I don't know, you're the mastermind.

  20. I doubt that spings coming any time soon. It's snowing right now and it's supposed to keep doing so for the whole week.
On the bright side I'm going to Disney World in two months and it's already in the 70s there! Lucky whatever you call people who live in Florida!

  21. I think it would be cool if we did a contest about designing super hero outfits and names.
Rules: The hero must be a teenage girl.
You must list her special skills & gadgets.
And it cant be based off of an existing hero.

  22. oooh! a spy dress design? AWESOOOME IDEA, ANONYMOUS!
maybe a drawing contest for the most amazing depiction of one of the irregulars (or all of them!)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think an art contest to draw a character(s) would be amazing! it could also be a writing contest or you could post something about an upcoming book.

P.S. I haven't found any other art contests so one on this site would be sooo cool!

I like the spy dress idea.
I have an idea like drawing kiki strike.

    ReplyDelete
  25. ... Maybe a contest, like a poster. Celebrating 1000 posts of awesomness.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Or maybe (I just looked at the other posts), a myriad of pictures/dresses/pieces of writing/ect.

    =))

    ReplyDelete
  27. wow i sure hope the ground hog is right im ready for some earm weather!! and a contest sounds funn a writing one would be pretty cool :)maybe we could write a mini adventure that a member of the irregulars goes on

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like that idea anna

  29. happy groundhog day, everyone! may puxatawney phil and his ground-dwelling rodent companions give you good sleep and brownies.

i will jump on the contest bandwagon! i like the strangest link contest idea, and the art contest as well. maybe because we're not all artists we could also hold a photography or poem contest?

    or you could add Kaspar and Iris to the irregulars quiz? {if that's even possible...}

OR HEY, HERE'S AN IDEA! {sorry for eye-burning capitals} we could have a contest to design a new t-shirt for the shadow city store!

or "find an underground city kirsten has never heard of" contest?

well, these ideas are all really sort of impractical, and ridiculous, and would be really hard to arrange, but a girl can dream :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. We want lots of giveaways for everyone everywhere, preview chapeters of BOTH books and have Iris to appear with the rest of the Irregulars in the Irregulars section.
Oh, and more awesome Kiki Strike items in the shop.

    Woohoo!

    I hope I'm not too demanding :P

  31. Happy Ground Hog day! I think a contest would be fun to celebrate... hehehehe

  32. Yeah, Yeah! A contest would be good..maybe like a kiki strike trivia thing, with kiki strike prizes (mostly because i want some & i know everything about kiki strike: i've practically memorized the books!) ps: did anyone here just get back from ILMUNC in philly???? i went & i personally thought the dance sucked.

  33. "Maybe a contest for Best Spy Dress Design, like people can send in designs for multifunctional spy clothes." YES YES YES!! PLEASE!

Ananka: I just found out yesterday they have teeth on their tentacles. Wasn't the woman freaking out on the video (the MyFoxLA link) hilarious?

  34. have another contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. No way!!! That's amazing. How do you put up with us?! :)
Lindesy Book Worm: I love that idea!!! That would be so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Liltomboyblue: Put up with you? I consider some of you close, personal friends at this point. It's a joy.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i agree: groundhogs r evil!! one lives on my lawn and it is bigger than my dog! my dog is a basset hound.

Oh, and contests are fun, fun, fun!! even though i never win. unless it has 2 do w/ flyfishing. or poetry. that i can do. also reading. not so much storywriting though i did write a rather good prequel to Snow white.

also, did u know that the stupid groundhog was wrong cause it snowed to day! stupid inept rodent. almost as bad a weather people.

  38. i'm touched kirsten!I had a dream with u in it a couple nights ago! monty python and the holy grail figured prominently in it. i think u were attacked by the evil bunny. u killed it though and made it into a casserole. :o) Monty python is a great movie........

  39. A contest would be so much fun!!! What if we wrote about the coolest woman or girl in history? Someone like Anne Frank, or Abigail Adams. Women didn't get a lot of recognition in the past, and it would be fun to learn more about them from each other's entries!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think you should do a post with lots of questions we all have, and maybe a hint of some new characters in kiki strike #3???
    thanks

  47. Either a contest (I vote for a photography AND art contest, you can enter either type in the same contest, with the prize an advance copy of the book) or else FAQ, of questions we have asked.

Santa Clara County had, not only a tornado watch, but tornadoes that almost reached the ground. Also hail, which tragically killed a bunch of old cars at an antique car sale.

Mushroom Cloud: NO ONE is worse at the job than the weather people.
