Play With Your Food!









One thing I love about the Japanese is the importance they place on making everything beautiful. Even their lunchboxes.

Bento are home-packed lunches that usually contain rice, a meat, and a vegetable. It could seem a bit bland if not for the artistic miracles performed using these humble ingredients.

One of the masters of the bento craft is the woman behind Anna the Red's Bento Factory. Her amazing blog not only contains pictures of her handiwork (shown above and below), but also detailed instructions for making everything from snowflakes to Super Mario mushrooms.

Since most of you should soon have some time on your hands, I suggest you check it out!

    What? NY had a snow day? Snow? We Marylanders know nothing of this "snow". Is it the magic white flakes that fall from the sky? Also, awesome lunchboxes, I have got to somehow aquire one.

    Reminds me of the bento in anime... The sausages are either shaped like puppies or octapi! X3 I like the no face one from Spirited Away... ^^ Alotta people like Spirited Away! X3

    Sometimes if I reaaaally don't want to eat, but I have to... And just say I put chocolate spread on my bread, it still looks boring and I won't eat it, so I have to put colorful hundreds and thousands. Then I'll eat it because it's rainbow, ha! I'm such a kid!
    Does anybody eat Fairy Bread? I still eat it, mmmm... (Butter spread on bread with hundreds & thousands sprinkled)

    It's no face!! Lol. That is really funny because the weekend I was on a trip. We went in a bookstore in Little Tokyo and there was this book with a bunch of those things in it. hey had a bunch of different characters.

    Its true they make thing look good. They are so neat too! My best friend is japanese and everyday at lunch she has a tiny flag in her lunch and her carrots are stars... :)

    Oh you know that the black and white head food decoration is a movie from japan that is made by a very famous director. I watched it when I was 7 and I got really scared.
