The Real Mr. Freeze

Wim Hof has a very special gift--one that most people would agree is "superhuman." The Dutchman is able to withstand freezing temperatures that would kill most ordinary people.

In the twenty years since he discovered his power, Hof has climbed Mount Everest--wearing only a pair of shorts. He's traveled to the Arctic Circle and run a half-marathon--barefoot. He's even swum under the ice at the North Pole.

Hof's latest stunt took place here in Manhattan. For an hour and twelve minutes, he remained buried up to his neck in ice. He broke his own world record--but then again, no other human being could survive for a fraction of that time.

According to ABC News, when Hof emerged from the tank, he seemed perfectly comfortable, and his skin was still a healthy pink.
